Prague is widely considered as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, and is one of the most visited cities on the continent. After a long day of exploring the city, you’ll probably try to find a nice and cozy place with good food and beverages. It’s usual to hear some music in restuarants, mostly from the radio. Here are some of the best places to catch a live music show in Prague, whatever kind of music you’re in the mood for.

Blues Sklep

In the labyrinth of Old Town in the cellar of a very old building is where you will find the famous Blues Sklep. Appropriately translated, sklep means cellar. One of the most popular and best-known clubs, Blues Sklep features live Jazz, Blues and even some folk music every night in a hip and romantic cellar with dim lights and small intimate tables. Blues Sklep is open daily from 7 p.m.– 2:30 a.m. and showcases live music from 9 p.m. – midnight. The menu includes Staropramen on tap, bottled beer, a selection of bottled wines and wine by the glass, liquor, mixed drinks, hot drinks, a selection of snacks, cigars and much more.

Malostranská Beseda Music and Theater Club

Located on the second floor of the Malostranská Beseda is the Music and Theater Club which offers a rich and varied program of music styles such as rock, funk, alternative, folk, singer/songwriter style, blues, chanson, oldies and many others as well as interesting theater performances. The spacious club consists of three separate rooms, a coatroom, a bar area and a stage room. You enter through the coatroom and then find yourself in the bar & lounge room. This spacious room invokes a coffeehouse or bar from the past with a vaulted and frescoed ceiling, a wooden bar, an abundance of windows with wonderful views of Lesser Town Square and intimate round wooden tables with chairs. The stage room is a wonderful treat indeed with rows of comfortable seats and an intimate stage; this room also features a frescoed ceiling. The Malostranská Beseda Music and Theater Club has a long tradition of offering the people of Prague interesting independent art, which was true even in the years of communism when Malostranska Beseda was seen as an island of freedom by many and offered a much-needed alternative to the official ‘government’ pop which was to be seen on TV in those days. This tradition luckily survived the Velvet Revolution and is still flourishing after the recent meticulous reconstruction of the whole complex. The lower level of the complex features the Malostranská Beseda Cafe and Pilsner Urquell Restaurant, the perfect place to grab a bite to eat alongside a delicious Czech beer!

Folklore Garden

Located in a residential and hilly area in Prague 5 is the Folklore Garden. Situated in a gorgeous renovated brick mansion, the Folklore Garden is the best place to experience a Czech countryside atmosphere all the while never having left the center of Prague. The unforgettable dinner and folklore show is complete with traditional Czech cuisine, talented musicians and dancers wearing colorful costumes. The two and a half hour show will entertain and amuse; you are even welcome to join in by learning the Czech songs, dances and games performed by the entertainers, you can even join in and play an instrument if you wish. You will be more than satisfied with the delicious and hearty Czech cuisine served family style in four courses, for you to sample all the best Czech fare has to offer. During the show bread and mineral water will be served continuously as will an unlimited amount of wine, Czech beer (the best in the world!) and soft drinks. If you are a vegetarian or on a special diet the chefs at the Folklore Garden can accommodate your culinary wishes. The Folklore Garden has many whimsical settings including their Summer Garden, which surrounds the brick mansion and is decorated to resemble an authentic Czech village and the Folklore Wooden House, a timbered house straight out of a quaint village. Prices for dinner and a show include a welcome mead drink, unlimited drinks and free transfers to and from Prague hotels. The Folklore Garden is entirely handicapped accessible.

La Bodega Flamenca

Located in the pretty residential area of Prague 6 off of Letenské Náměstí on a tree-lined avenue leading to lush Stromovka Park is La Bodega Flamenca, a traditional Spanish tapas restaurant. Follow the colorful tile steps down to this cellar bar and you will find yourself in the heart of Spanish country! The cool interior and the bustling atmosphere of this tapas restaurant and bar will definitely have you coming back for more. It is not just the atmosphere and interior that make this Spanish establishment so special, for the Spanish food served at La Bodega is delicious, fresh and mouthwatering and is served in large portions for very low prices. The menu features an array of tapas and Spanish goodies that are sure to please everyone, vegetarians included. The happy party atmosphere is only made better by occasional Flamenco and Latino dancing performances (check the website for their schedule). We heartily recommend the El Plato Flamenco (Spanish cured ham, grilled eggplant, sun-dried tomatoes, black olives and baguette) and the El Plato Queso (white cheese, marinated soft white cheese, green and black olives, baguette) if you wish to sample the best of the best Spanish olives, cured ham and cheese. For a main course our favorites include the Vegetarian Paella and the Pollo Al Ajullo (grilled chunks of tender chicken in a garlic herb marinade served with alioli) and for a side dish the Patatas Chorizitas (homemade mashed potatoes with chorizo and onions) simply cannot be missed! La Bodega has an impressive Spanish wine list and of course offers a delicious thirst quenching sangria. La Bodega is a true winner in the Spanish culinary circle of Prague.
